"She had a gift for staying connected to the people she loved."
Teresa Lynn Melton passed away on September 5, 2026, at the age of 67. Born in Dayton, Ohio, she made her home in San Diego, California, where she came to love the beach, its culture, and the feeling of the coastal breeze on a long ride.
Teresa was sociable, funny, kind, generous, caring, and deeply empathetic. She had a gift for staying connected to the people she loved — always ready with a phone call to share the day’s news or to make sure no birthday went unmarked. She enjoyed making jewelry for her friends and loved riding her bike and motorcycle alongside family and friends, especially along the coast.
In her later years, with proper treatment, Teresa overcame the challenges of schizophrenia and emerged happier and more optimistic than ever. She made friends easily and found real contentment in life.
Teresa is survived by her son, Christopher; her sister, Patty; her brothers, Bill and Jim; and her mother, Etta.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the CURESZ Foundation.
